Delhi Transport Corporation bus catches fire; third instance in a week

The incident was reported from Moto Nagar area around 5.30am.

In the third such incident within a week, a low-floor bus of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) caught fire here today, but no one was hurt in the incident.

The incident was reported from Moto Nagar area around 5.30am. "The driver's presence of mind helped in averting a major tragedy," a senior police official said.

No one was injured in the incident.

This is the third such incident of a DTC bus catching fire in the past one week while a Blueline bus also caught fire during the same period.

On November 30, a DTC bus caught fire near Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. None of the passengers was hurt, they said. The bus was plying between Dwarka and New Delhi railway station.

On November 26, a DTC bus carrying around 40 children caught fire in the Mayur Vihar area. No one was injured in the incident.

Similarly a day later, a Blueline bus caught fire at Mehrauli. The incident took place when the bus, plying between Nangloi and Mehrauli, stopped at a traffic signal on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road.
