Daddu on remand till July 22

The crime branch on Monday produced Yogendra alias Daddu Charra before urgent metropolitan magistrate BT Dave and sought his remand.

Seeking remand, the crime branch submitted that Daddu had been selling illicit liquor in Kantodiya Vaas and the areas surrounding it.

The agency also submitted that Daddu had brought 1,000 litres of illicit liquor into Ahmedabad within a span of two days. It said that both Daddu and Hariyo knew that the liquor was giving out a strange smell.

The court sent him to remand till July 22. Meanwhile, three of the female bootleggers arrested by the crime branch in connection with the hooch tragedy were sent to remand till July 16.

Seeking remand of Lata Chunara, Kantaben Vaghela and Kantaben Rathod, the crime branch submitted that 30 litres of hooch was recovered from the Lata's possession, which needed to be investigated. The agency further submitted that while Vaghela had bought 70 litres of hooch from Hariya, another accused, Kanta Thakore, had bought 175 litres of spurious liquor from the accused.
