Goa Vikas Party (GVP) supremo Fransisco Micky Pacheco has accused the Congressmen of "spreading rumours" about destabilising the Manohar Parrikar-led government that was elected with a thumping majority in the just-concluded assembly polls.

Addressing media persons in Margao city on Saturday, Pacheco accused that a few Congress leaders were spreading rumours about forming an alternate government by dethroning Parrikar, who has recently taken over as Goa chief minister.

"All this is rumour-mongering. Congress has no numbers on their side and political outfit like the GVP will never support any game plans to destablise the Parrikar-led government," he said.

GVP, which has its two legislators elected in the assembly polls, has extended unconditional support to the BJP government in the state.

"Congress should respect the mandate given by people of Goa to Parrikar," Pacheco said adding that the mandate is against corruption, political instability, lack of development and scandals, in which, the Congress-led government was involved.

The former tourism minister said that this government will survive its full term and the GVP will stand by it unconditionally.

Pacheco told reporters that he has already met Chief Minister and requested him to investigate into the all the scams that Congress-led government was involved in during last five years of its rule.
