Taking umbrage at remarks of Sushma Swaraj for describing Rahul Gandhi and young MPs of the party as chocolate faced, Congress today asked BJP to refrain from using such language.

Referring to the statement of BJP deputy  leader in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, who described newly elected young MPs of Congress as chocolate faced yesterday, party spokesperson Manish Tewari said,"If BJP persists with such remarks, Congress is willing to "meet them more than half-way"."

Tewari also described the reported criticism of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by BJP president Rajnath Singh as reflective of a political party in disarray. "Such statements are not only unfortunate but also reflective of the mindset of a political party in disarray. We are not in the blame game but if the BJP continues to do it, we are willing to meet them more than half way," he said.

Tewari referred to 1921 when the youth wing of the party was formed by Jawahar Lal Nehru. He also referred to the reduction of the voting age by former PM Rajiv Gandhi and attributed the impressive performance of the party in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections to the dynamism of Rahul Gandhi. "The trust of the Indian youth is not won by picking up dumbbells in a gymnasium but by trusting them and giving them direction, which is what the Congress is doing," he said.
