Cold conditions continue in Punjab, Haryana

The mercury hovered between 3 degrees C above normal to 2 degrees C below normal at several places in the two neighbouring states, the Met office said today.

Punjab and Haryana reeled under a cold wave with night temperatures ranging upto 2 degrees Celsius below normal at some places in the region.
 
The mercury hovered between 3 degrees C above normal to 2 degrees C below normal at several places in the two neighbouring states, the Met office said here today.
 
Hisar was the coldest place in the region with night temperature of 4.8 deg C, two notches below normal.
 
While Narnaul settled at a low of 5.5 deg C, the minimum at Amritsar was 4.8 deg C.
 
Among other places, Bhiwani and Karnal had an identical low of 6.8 deg C followed by Ludhiana at 6.9 deg C.
 
Rohtak had a low of 6.1 deg C which was one notch below normal, while the minimum at Chandigarh was 9.7 deg C, three notches above normal.
 
Ambala settled at 7.7 deg C and Patiala at 7.4 deg C.
 
Some places in the region, including Ambala, Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Bathinda and Gurdaspur, were engulfed under fog in the morning, reducing visibility upto a few metres only.
 
The met office has forecast a further dip in night as well as day temperatures during the next 48 hours.
