A treasure hunt helped the city discover some of its real treasures on Sunday.
Though nothing to do with the game, the initiative titled “Ahmedabad Unveiled” - Discover the Real Treasures- Treasure Hunt” provided an opportunity for the city to find and interact with everyday heroes. It also provided them an opportunity to explore the city on bicycles.

It also discussed the ways and means to help nurture leadership skills of Amdavadis, encourage civic responsibility in them and the need to contribute towards social causes.
The initiative was put together by a dedicated group of youths called Volunteers Ahmedabad- an Indicorps initiative.

The Treasure Hunt began on Sunday at 8 am from Ashram Road with over 50 participants and ended at Kochrab Ashram. The participants cycled their way to the Kochrab Ashram where an interactive session was organised for them.

“Taking out time for a noble cause makes me very happy. I am glad I could put in my share of time and effort into this. Cycling around the city was great fun. I have always used some sort of vehicle for travel but riding a bicycle was sheer fun” said Rajal Alpahara, a participant.

Some of the ‘everyday’ heroes who were part of the programme included Miyan-Mahadev jodi, two tailor friends who belong to different religions but who promote the message of harmony between the two communities.

Prabhat Pheri, a designer from ISRO who cycles 35 km everyday from Gandhi Ashram to Satellite and back in order to continue and spread Gandhiji’s message through bhajans which he plays throughout his ride was another of such hero.

The others included Tejas Naik, who has built an in house museum focusing on five to six different themes ranging from collection of old cameras, coins and pots and Dr. Rajal Thaker, who looks after stray dogs in her neighbourhood.

Bhardwaj Jain, member of core committee, Treasure Hunt, Volunteers Ahmedabad said it was a wonderful experience to organise the event.

“Not only did we have fun while making the arrangements but the participants had an experience that they will cherish for the rest of their lives,” said Jain.

Dimpi Dave another member of the core committee for Treasure Hunt said, “This event’s main focus was on people taking out time for social causes and to explore your own city. A lot of participants were doctors and engineers. Today’s youth should learn a lesson from this and take out time for social causes because youth is the present and the future of our country.”

Monarch Projects and Fin Market both extended their support to the volunteer organisation in the execution of this event.
