Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation restarted its demolition drive on CG Road on Sunday evening. Earlier, the Gujarat High Court had dismissed a petition filed by the traders challenging the civic body's decision to demolish illegal constructions in the area.

The civic body restarted its demolition drive in the cellar of Shilp Building as well as Nalanda Hotel near Mithakhali. "We have begun the demolition that was put on hold after a stay by the high court.

Now that the high court has dismissed the petition filed by the traders, we decided finish the pending work at Shilp building on CG Road and Nalanda Hotel near Mithakhali six roads," said UC Padia, deputy municipal commissioner of estate management and town planning department of AMC.

He said that further demolition plan will be done after consulting the police.

The decision to continue the drive depends on the support from the police department, he said. Meanwhile, the civic body also continue its demolition drive in the east zone of the city.
