Shanti Bhushan, co-chairperson of the Jan Lok Pal Bill drafting committee, moved the Supreme Court on Monday seeking contempt action against Amar Singh over a controversial CD that allegedly features Bhushan telling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Singh that his son could fix a top court judge for Rs4 crore.

Bhushan also sought an investigation by a special investigation team to find out “who all are involved in the fabrication of the CD or its dissemination”.

His petition says the “alleged contents” of the CD have been “fabricated” with an intention to interfere with the administration of justice as it “tries to create an impression that a particular bench of this court can be managed through the informant’s son (Prashant).”

Prashant Bhushan is in the forefront of exposing the 2G scam. On his petition, a bench of justices GS Singhvi and AK Ganguly asked the CBI to probe and prosecute the accused on day-to-day basis. Home minister P Chidambaram said the Delhi police would consult two forensic labs to verify the CD’s authenticity. The Samajwadi Party has said Shanti Bhushan did not have the conversation with Yadav.
