Crime branch sources say girls in the ring catered to six customers a day.
A handsome package of Rs50,000 is what some call girls earn these days. This revelation was made when the crime branch busted a sex racket in two posh areas of the city on Tuesday night.
The investigating agency nabbed four girls hailing from Jharkand, Kolkata and Mumbai during the raid. A team headed by ACP (crime) Usha Rada busted the racket that was operating in Shivshankar Palace Hotel in Gold Coin Complex in Jodhpur and Uday Palace Hotel near Paldi crossroads.
The team also nabbed an agent, Mohan Mali, the manager of Shivshankar Palace, Ishwar Marwadi and one Ram Balan Sahu, who was working as an agent at Uday Palace and the manager, Karan Sinh Rathore.
A senior crime branch official said, “We have come to know that the girls involved in the racket were offered a package of at least Rs 50,000 for their stay in the city.” Officials said that the agents involved in the racket used to get a cut from the total earnings to the tune of Rs2,000 to Rs5,000 per customer. Sources said that the girls involved used to cater to around six customers a day.
Sources in the crime branch said that the owners of both the hotels are absconding. While Shivshankar Palace is owned by Govind Patel and Mahesh Upadhayaya, Uday Palace belongs to one Narendra Sinh Rajput. An official said, “The owners were working in collusion with the agents in the racket. Customers were called up on their mobile phones by the agents.” Sources said that the profiles of the customers would be obtained once the mobile phone details of the call girls are taken.
The prostitution ring was busted as a part of the crackdown by crime branch officials on hotels. Many of the city’s beauty parlours running such rackets have already been closed down by the agency. A few days ago, the crime branch swooped down on a hotel near Gujarat Vidyapith and smashed a similar scheme.
