With all the high drama surrounding the government and the alleged black magic at the Vidhana Soudha, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa took a small tour to the city’s temples to ward off evil.
In the morning, the CM alleged that the JD(S) party was resorting to black magic after some suspicious items were found at the Vidhana Soudha and said that the party was using all techniques to destabilise the government. Yeddyurappa visited the Gali Anjaneya temple in Bapujinagar, along Mysore Road, and offered a special puja to Lord Hanuman there. There is a belief that special prayers in the temple can ward off the threat of evil, especially if somebody is purposely posing a threat to the person.

The CM also visited the temple of Lord Venkateshwara, located near the Hanuman temple.

"God won't leave me. I will definitely win in the numbers game," he said. Yeddyurappa then visited the temple of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in Balepet and offered special puja to the deity there. "I hope the lord gives elected representatives a good attitude," he said.

Meanwhile, a group led by the Republican Party of India, staged a protest in front of Vidhana Soudha on Saturday afternoon. It was against the closing of the gates of the house of power in the name of superstition.

"Vidhana Soudha is a symbol of democracy. Bowing to superstition, the government has closed the East gate and banned entry to the public. It is an unscientific mindset," said Kodihalli Chandrashekar.

"The Vidhana Soudha is not the property of CM Yeddyurappa, Congress leaders Siddaramaiah or JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy. It belongs to the public. But it is sad that the house of power has become the centre of horsetrading in the last few weeks," said Agni Shridhar, a journalist and filmmaker. "We demand that the government open the gates to the public," he said. Later, Cubbon Park police arrested the protesters.
