A letter threatening a bomb attack on AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa during her proposed rally in Madurai next month was received by the 'JAYA TV' today,  a top official of the pro-AIADMK channel said.

In a complaint to police, a copy of which was released to media here, the official said the letter received at its office here said Jayalalithaa should cancel the Madurai rally or else she and her followers will be killed by a bomb attack.

Jaya TV Network vice-president (Admin & Legal) S Ranganathan in a letter to the Director General of Police said the sender's name of the threatening letter was mentioned as K Arivoli Mathi of Kalanthiri.

Stating that the channel was not able to treat this kind of letters as empty threats aimed at the leader of the opposition in Tamil Nadu, who is enjoying Z category security, he requested the DGP to order suitable investigation to find out the culprit who had sent the threatening letter and also arrange adequate protection to Jayalalithaa and properties and shooting crew of Jaya TV Network.

Gearing for the assembly polls due in May next year, Jayalalithaa has been addressing public meetings in major cities since last month. Her meetings in Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli, which drew huge crowds, were telecast live by the Jaya TV.
