BJP wants Anna Hazare hotline

Almost pushed to the sidelines in one of the strongest anti-government movements, the BJP is keen to open a direct line with Team Anna to capitalise on the popular upsurge. It also wants to strike an advantage vis-vis the government on the basis of its numerical superiority in the Rajya Sabha.

It is reliably learnt that a top BJP leader called up Sri Sri Ravishankar and the Indore-based spiritual leader Bhaiyyu Maharaj, who is believed to be close to Anna, and is currently camping in the capital to facilitate a breakthrough, asking him to facilitate a meeting with key Team Anna members Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi.

However, it is learnt that Team Anna was not very comfortable with the idea, particularly at this moment when the communication channels are still clogged. Interestingly, Bhaiyyu Maharaj is a former youth Congress leader, who is known to be close to BJP President Nitin Gadkari, but also enjoys equal proximity with the Congress leadership in Maharashtra. In fact members from Team Anna told Maharaj that if they opened a channel to the BJP, it would create problems fro their movement.
