The BJP today asked Sheila Dikshit-led Delhi government how it could reject the Shunglu committee report on Commonwealth Games without reading it and demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who appointed the panel, and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi clarify their stand on it.

"We wish to put on record our concern that after the report of the Shunglu committee was submitted the response of the Delhi government is astonishing to say the least. The Congress-led government has rejected the report of a commission appointed by the prime minister himself," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said.

BJP wanted to know the reasons for rejecting this report and maintained that Dikshit had not even read it.

"The cabinet rejects the report even before they have read it. The Congress government in Delhi stands charged with various omissions and commissions. The prime minister and the Congress president should come out openly on this display of defiance," Sitharaman said.

She sought to know how Dikshit could say the report is not based on facts and talk about forming a three-member committee to study the report and answer "para by para" the charges made in it against the Delhi government.

"We have raised questions on the quality of work. The Shunglu report says how delays led to collusive and partial bidding. CWG became Congress Wealth Games- a strategy to make money," Sitharaman alleged.

BJP also demanded that a deadline be set for taking action against the guilty and the people should be informed about the action taken.

"Enhanced cost could not have happened at the lower level. The Union Cabinet, the urban development ministry, sports ministry and the Planning Commission were involved in decision making," Sitharaman said.

The main opposition also wants all CWG related cases be brought under one umbrella.

It also asked how Dikshit maintains that the report is a kind of insinuation against her government.
