Attack on shop in Shahpur, Rs2.75 L looted

About 10 to 20 boys, sitting on the stairs of a shop in Shahpur on Thursday morning, attacked it when the owner asked them to move and clear out the area.

The group started pelting stones at the shop, and taking advantage of the ensuing chaos, some even made away with cash and valuables from the shop. The Shahpur police have registered a case against the group.

According to the police, between 9 am and 10 am on Thursday, a group of people attacked a shop called 'Kaushalendra engineering works' situated near Shahpur gate. The group first targeted two cars parked outside, and then entered the shop. As the cars were run on gas, the gas began leaking from them. Hence, to control the damage, the fire brigade and police had to be called.

Amrut Patel, the owner of the shop, told DNA, "When we opened the shop in the morning, we saw these local boys sitting at the doorway, blocking the entrance. When we asked them to step out and clear the entrance, the group started abusing us. The heated argument soon turned into a violent attack, where the group broke two cars parked outside the shop and pelted stones, destroying valuable articles."

The complainant has also alleged that the members of
the group took cash worth Rs2.75 lakh and destroyed properties worth Rs20 lakh, including two cars. Besides, four people including Patel's brother and co owner of the shop Jayanti Patel, and three workers Chirag, Pratap and Vijay, were injured. They were taken to the Anand surgical hospital for treatment.
