A girl from Poland, who came to the city through AIESEC to do internship in a local company, has sought the intervention of Gujarat high court in a matter concerning her stay in the city. She has said that though she has got a valid visa till August 2010, she was asked to leave the country in the mid of her internship.

Sandra Elizabeth (name changed) has met the registrar-general of the high court and apprised him her problem. She requested the HC to do a sou motu enquiry urgently and stay the implementation and operation of the notice issued by the authorities.

According to Sandra, the Indian embassy in Poland had wrongly approved her business visa even though she is here to do internship and now she has been issued notice to leave India by September 30.

In her representation to the chief justice, Sandra said she had applied for "proper visa" at the Indian Embassy in Poland on August 6, but was issued a business visa. Though she raised some objections then, she later agreed with it thinking the embassy officials knew best.

"Since the time I entered India I faced a lot of problems because of the fact that I was given a business visa. On Sept 23, I was called to come to the Foreigner Registration Office in Ahmedabad and given a notice that I should leave the country by Sept 30.

On Sept 24, I contacted the Polish embassy in New Delhi and consulate in Mumbai and requested them to take action on the matter,” she said, adding that she was told that they would contact the Indian authorities.
