Another new born girl found abandoned in cuttack

In the second such incident within three days, another new born girl was found abandoned here, police said here.

Wrapped in a cloth, the infant was found in a dustbin in front of the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre at Mangalabag area here, police said today.

A youth rescued the baby after hearing her cry and immediately informed the police, they said.

The 10 to 15 days-old baby was then rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital here where doctors found her condition to be stable.

"She weighs around 2.5 kg and is completely healthy and hearty", the attending doctor at the hospital said.

Meanwhile, the incident had sent a shock wave in the city as it was the third new born baby found abandoned here in past three days.

Two baby girls, believed to be twins and packed in a carton, were found abandoned in the platform of the railway station here on Saturday.

After being rescued by the people, the twins were handed over to a child help centre and now under treatment at the Sishu Bhavan here.
