Amit Shah meets Nitin Gadkari

Former Gujarat minister Amit Shah today met BJP President Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and is understood to have discussed the state's affairs and recent developments relating to Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in which he is out on bail.

Gadkari confirmed that Shah had called on him today but refused to divulge the details of the meeting.

Sources said the two leaders discussed his case and issues related to the party and the Gujarat government. Gadkari also enquired about Shah's health, which had deteriorated during his three-month stay in jail. Shah is a diabetic.

The former Gujarat home minister, who has been asked by the Gujarat high court to stay away from the state after he was granted bail, met the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley yesterday night. Jaitley left for Raipur today morning for some party related work.

Party sources said Shah is likely to meet Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, former BJP Chief Rajnath Singh and other senior leaders.

He has not yet sought an appointment with BJP parliamentary party chief LK Advani but sources said he may seek an appointment.

CBI, which is investigating the Sohrabuddin encounter case, has filed an appeal against the Gujarat high court granting bail to Shah in the Supreme Court.
