Supreme Court appointed agency has taken statements of many witnesses who were at the receiving end of Shah & co's intimidation.
Amit Shah, DG Vanzara and Abhay Chudasama had become desperate after the investigation in the Sohrabuddin encounter case was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), witnesses apparently told the agency sleuths.
Supreme Court appointed agency has taken statements of many witnesses who were at the receiving end of Shah & co's intimidation. One witness Zahid Kadri of Juhapura told the CBI that he was picked up by cops from the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and brought before DG Vanzara. Vanzara then allegedly threatened him and forced him to make statement against Sohrabuddin Sheikh. Kadri said all this was being done as per the instruction of Amit Shah. Vanzara also allegedly threatened to get him killed in an encounter.
Kadri said Rajkumar Pandiyan had given him electric shocks while he was in their custody. He also alleged that police inspector NH Dabhi hit him on the forehead while he was being confined by the ATS.
Another witness, Nurmohammad Ghoghari, was also allegedly called by Vanzara and they compelled him to give statement against CBI.
Ghoghari said under pressure, he consented to sign an affidavit against the CBI. Ghoghari claimed that he also met Tulsi Prajapati in the sessions court of Ahmedabad and the latter expressed fears of being killed by Gujarat police in an encounter as he knew about the Sohrabuddin and Kausarbi abduction and murder.
One Murtuzakhan Akbarkhan Pathan was also allegedly confined by the ATS and threatened by the accused cops. Dashrath Patel and Raman Patel, proprietors of Popular Builders, who are key witnesses had stated before the CBI that, Chudasama, Ajay Patel, Yashpal Chudasama and Amit Shah had intimidate them to give statements.
