Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation will need one more month to repair the non-working signals in the city. During the meeting with traffic cops on Friday, AMC officials said that they would require more time for the work. The earlier deadline to repair around 120 signals was set for April end, but many signals are yet to be repaired or installed. The fresh deadline is May end.

These junctions include major traffic points like Dharnidhar crossroads, Law Garden, Gurukul crossroads, Ambawadi, Panchwati, Judges Bungalow, Town Hall and Akhbarnagar in western part of the city. The survey also included traffic junctions of eastern part of the city, including Memco circle, Gheekanta, Pankor naka, Shah E Alam, Danilimda, Vadaj circle, Hatekeshwar, etc.
Guruprasad Mohapatra, municipal commissioner, said that he had a review meeting with both traffic police department and AMC's traffic cell.

"The repairing work of manually handled traffic signals is on and is faster than earlier. Once a complaint is received, it will be solved within 24 hours," said Mohapatra.  However, the civic body is facing problems in IT-based traffic system. He said that the promoters of the IT service provider company have been called for a meeting to solve the problem and expected for better results in future.

Officials of both the departments talked about Vadaj circle on Ashram road as well as Akhbarnagar circle. It was learned that these spots needs immediate attention, as there are frequent complaints of traffic jams in these areas. Mohapatra has reportedly asked his men to study the problem and redesign these circles if needed.
