With election mood setting in, Uva Azaadi, a youth organisation in the city is attempting to join in the nation's political drama, but with a difference.

Assembling at Indulal Yagnik Hall at Bapunagar, the organisation launched its Brastachar Mukti Melo, while demanding that political candidates should be chosen by mass opinion in the process called, "selection before election."

Says Manish Brahmbhatt, convener, India Against Corruption, Gujarat: "If you look at the government then the common people's contribution is nil. Every five years they just go and vote. But in any decision taken by the government, people's views are never taken. So under the Anna Yuva leader we will be asking citizens to pick a person who has done good work for a particular area. The process has started from Bapunagar but we will be going to all the 182 seats."

The organisation is also planning to fight the corruption in government departments through a mass rally. Gathering volunteers, it will pay heed to the complaints filed by individuals. People can come and register their complaints at the organisations against various departments like corporation, police etc. "We will start with a common issue like water problem and try to solve the woes," said Brahmbhatt.

The area's volunteers will then enquire into the matter and set up a report. If the problem is not solved then the various groups across the city will unite and address the issue.

With an active participation of 60 volunteers, the organisation is planning to gather more by launching coupons for the same on May 25. A part of this movement will also be the Chanakya yojana, where the teachers in the rural area will be gathered and encouraged to spread the message through student members or by interacting with parents when they come to pick up their wards.
