For a change, it was not hardened criminals, but five young students who gave the cops a hard time on Saturday evening.
The five children, all residents of Chandkheda, went missing from their homes, following which, one of the parents lodged a complaint with the Chandkheda police station. The police then launched a manhunt for them, only to discover later that they had gone on an outing to Kankaria.

According to Chandkheda police officials, Khetan Seju, Ashok Seju, Jayesh Padiyar, Manthan Suthar and Ronak Suthar disappeared from their homes carrying some cash, on Saturday evening. The five then turned up on Monday evening.

Sources said that the youngsters told the police they wanted a 'break' and had hence gone on a sight-seeing trip to Kankaria.
Chandkheda police inspector, TS Patel said, "The five are related and belong to different schools. They disappeared from their homes with some money. When they came back, they said that they had gone to Kankaria." Sources said that the five belong to middle class families, and are aged 12-13.

The sources added that while three of the children returned in an AMTS bus on Monday afternoon, the other two came back in the evening.

Chandkheda police officials stated that the five said they wanted a jaunt badly as their parents never took them on outings.

In fact, the children roamed around the whole day, using the Rs200 that they'd taken along with them. They visited Kankaria and after taking in the sights there, they went to Kalupur railway station.
They stayed there for the night, fearing that their parents would reprimand them if they went home, but on Monday decided that home was where they belonged.
