When the whole city is celebrating World Heritage Week with great pomp and show, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the postal department have collaborated to stamp the city’s identity in people’s minds for a long time to come.

It is a moment of pride for the city as its identity and heritage symbol will be seen all over India on postal covers. The cover will have the sketch of the city’s pride, a chabutara. Though the cost of the special envelope has not been decided yet, it will be available from November 19, the first day of the World Heritage Week, at the heritage department of AMC.

Sources in the heritage department said that this is the first time AMC has tied up with the postal department for heritage week. “Also, this is a pride for our department as the city’s ancient, traditional chabutaras will be promoted through postal covers,” stated one of the officials.

Officials also said that around 1,000 covers have been printed and will be launched on

Saturday at the heritage building of Sardar Patel Bhavan, Danapith at 4.30 pm.
