Mahendra Dantani was against his daughter having an affair and suspected his wife of infidelity.
In a shocking incident, a man killed his 16-year-old daughter for being in love with a boy and seriously injured his wife whom he suspected of infidelity. The man, 40-year-old Mahendra Dantani, surrendered to the police later.
Dantani stabbed his daughter, Anita, to death at their residence in Chandra Bhaga na Khadama at Juna Vadaj early on Wednesday morning. He also stabbed his 35-year-old wife, Geeta, who, he suspected, was having an affair. After committing the crime, Dantani surrendered at the police control room in Shahibaug.
The policemen at the Shahibaug control room handed him over to the Naranpura police who have arrested Datani and registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against him.
Laxman Dattaniya, Geeta’s brother, has also lodged a murder complaint with the Naranpura police in this regard.
Rinku, sister of the deceased girl, said Anita was in love with a boy named Sunil. “She had gone out with Sunil on Monday and returned only on Tuesday night. This caused a quarrel between my father and mother,” said Rinku.
Dantani had stabbed Anita in the stomach with a knife 9 times and his wife four times. Mahendra Dantani was married to Geeta 17 years ago at Girnar ni Chali in Chandra Bhaga in Juna Vadaj.
They had three daughters — Anita (16), Rinku (14) and Sarika (10) — and a son Jignesh, who is 6 years old. Mahendra used to run errands to earn a living. In his complaint, Laxman Dattaniya has stated that his neighbour, Govind Channelwala, informed him at around 6 am on Wednesday that his brother-in-law, Mahendra Dantani, had stabbed Anita and Geeta. "Both had been admitted to VS Hospital," Dattaniya has stated in his complaint. Dattaniya and his wife immediate went to the hospital where his niece, Rinku, told them about what had happened. Rinku told them that at around 3 am on Wednesday, when everyone was asleep, she was woken up by the scream of her mother. She saw her father hitting her mother with a hammer. He also stabbed her with a knife and then stabbed Anita.
The complaint further states that Anita and her mother opened the door and fell into the veranda of their neighbour's house.
Mahendra followed them there and stabbed his daughter again and again, killing her on the spot. The neighbours took both mother and daughter to VS Hospital. Geeta's condition is stated to be serious. "Mahendra had suspicions about Geeta's character and was hostile to Anita having an affair. Hence, he killed both," the complaint states.
