80 taken ill due to food poisoning in Uttar Pradesh

Over 80 people were taken ill after having food during a marriage ceremony in Bhadsyana vilage in the district, police said today.

All of them attending the wedding of one Narendar in the village last night, fell ill after having dinner and it is suspected that a "chemically affected" potato was the cause of the food poisoning, they said.

They were rushed to hospitals in Hapur, Garhmukteshwar and Meerut for treatment.

No casualty has been reported and almost all of them returned home after treatment, police added.
