16-year-old girl set on fire for resisting rape in UP

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly burnt by three of her relatives after she resisted their attempt to rape her in Fakharpur area of the district.

Subhash, Sunil and Satish assaulted the victim in Sardarpara village under Fakharpur police station of the district, SP Bahraich, Shailendra Pati Tripathi, said, adding that one of accused has been arrested.

The girl is battling for life in the district hospital with over 75%burn injuries, he said.

The incident, which took place on Monday, came to light when a case was registered by family members of the victim yesterday.
