Ten killed as mini-truck overturns in Chhattisgarh

The vehicle was carrying around 45 people and was coming from a wedding venue.

    At least 10 people, including six women, were killed and 20 others injured today when a mini-truck carrying a marriage party turned turtle on Narayanpur-Bhanupratappur road in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district.

    The mishap occurred at around 12:30 pm near Ghotulbeda village when the vehicle, carrying around 45 people, was going to Bhanupratappur after attending a wedding near Narayanpur, Kanker Superintendent of Police Jitendra Singh Meena told PTI.

    When the mini-truck reached near Ghotulbeda, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned, he said. "So far, there are reports of 10 deaths while 20 people, including women and children, were injured in the accident," Meena said.

    The injured have been admitted to Antagarh hospital from where some of those whose condition was critical were referred to hospitals in Kanker and Raipur for treatment, he said.
