A Delhi court on Thursday granted anticipatory bail to Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in a case relating to his wife Sunanda Pushkar's death.
The Thiruvananthapuram MP has already been summoned as an accused on July 7 in the case.
Special Judge Arvind Kumar granted Tharoor the relief on personal bond of Rs one lakh while directing him to neither tamper with evidence nor leave the country without the court's prior permission.
Pushkar was found dead in a suite of a luxury hotel in the city on the night of January 17, 2014.

Viscera and toxicology report says no poison detected; forensics does not conclude death. Cops send the report back to AIIMS for an opinion. Vasant Vihar SDM Alok Sharma, who inspects the scene of crime and conducts inquest proceedings, is of the view that it was not a suicide, says a report prepared by then Deputy Commissioner of Police BS Jaiswal. The report questions the teeth bite & injection marks on he. Whether poison was given orally or injected is a matter to be probed, the report says.

The Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet in the court, in which it named Tharoor as an accused, under sections 306 (Abetment of suicide) and 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).Tharoor, however, had dismissed the charge sheet filed as "preposterous".

The Delhi court, which was hearing the case, transferred the matter to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM), Samar Vishal.
The court had said, "Since he (Tharoor) is a sitting Member of Parliament, the matter is being sent to the special designated court for politicians, that is ACMM Samar Vishal. Matter be taken up on May 28."

The Delhi court had issued a summon notice to Tharoor Tharoor, who has been charged for "abetment to suicide and cruelty" in the case, was asked to appear before the court on July 7. The court had also taken cognizance of the charge-sheet filed in the case.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor was granted anticipatory bail in wife Sunanda Pushkar’s death case by Delhi’s Patiala Court on Thursday. Tharoor will have to furnish a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh and won’t be able to leave the country without court’s permission.
