Madhya Pradesh: 2 killed after police open fire on protesting farmers

Two farmers were killed in Madhya Pradesh when police fired at protestors on Tuesday.

As reported in News 18, the farmers on their sixth day of protests are seeking loan waivers and appropriate pricing for their produce.

Internet services were suspended in several parts of the western part of the state, including Indore, Ujjain and Dewas.

In Badnawar, in the eastern part of the state today, protesting farmers emptied 12,000 litres of milk on road from tankers in anger, they also looted trucks, as reported by NDTV.

The agitation by farmers has led to a shortage of milk and vegetables in the state.

Responding to the protests, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Before October 31, the farmers who really need a loan waiver would get it. This will be the biggest loan waiver in India. This government is farmer’s government. All necessary steps have been initiated to address farmers concerns," Chouhan said.
