A woman has been arrested in Kerala’s Kollam for allegedly murdering her teenage son after some provocation.

The 43-year-old accused has confessed to the crime, media reports said on Friday.

The chilling details of the gruesome murder can shock anyone.

According to the police, Jayamol, the accused, killed her son Jeethu Job by first pushing him down in the kitchen and then strangulating him with a shawl.

She then tried to conceal her crime by setting the body on fire.

An IANS report said that the husband of the woman reportedly told the police that the accused is ‘mentally unstable.’

After killing her son, she told her husband that the teen had gone missing and they must file a missing complaint.

When the police started investigating the case, they found too many contradictions in the narrative of the accused.

After three days of search, the half-burnt body of the victim was found in nearby banana plantation, news agency ANI reported on Friday.

The exact cause of the crime is yet to be ascertained but initial investigation reveals that the 43-year-old lost her cool after her son ‘teased her’ over something. Angry and agitated, she murdered her son in spur of the moment.

Kollam police commissioner Dr A Sreenivas says the investigations are on and that they are looking into all possible angles to see if there is more to than what she has said.

The last rites of the boy were conducted on Thursday evening at their local church, after the autopsy was conducted.

Later when Jayamol was brought to the house as part of the investigation, she was booed by the local residents, the IANS report said.
