Incident happened near Ranghola on the Rajkot-Bhavnagar state highway.

In a tragic accident, that took place on early Tuesday morning, at least 26 people are dead in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The accident took place when a truck skidded and fell into a drain. At least 26 people who were there in the truck lost their lives. Initially the death toll was 20. But later, the number of deceased increased to 26, reports ANI.
According to reports, the truck was carrying a marriage party when the tragedy occurred. The accident happened around Ranghola on the Rajkot-Bhavnagar state highway. 12 people who are criticially injured are currently being treated in the local hospital. Senior police officers are in spot to supervise rescue operations.

Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani said that the kin of the deceased will be given compensation of Rs4 lakhs. He also announced that government will treat the injured patients.
District Collector Harshad Patel said the deceased included 10 women and five children. The truck was carrying around 60 people from Anida village, who were going to attend a wedding ceremony in Botad district, Bhavnagar's in-charge Superintendent of Police I M Sayed said."The truck fell into the pit when its driver tried to overtake another vehicle on the bridge in the morning hours. Twenty-five people died on the spot while one died at a hospital during treatment," he said. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals, the district collector said.
