Both the AAP and the BJP have missed Delhi by a whisker. Even if the three AAP  candidates who lost the election by a narrow margin, had won their seats, the debutant in the Delhi political arena would still not have attained the majority to form the government in Delhi. In terms of numbers, the party would have come at par with the BJP and would still be short of five seats to form the government.

Like the AAP, the BJP too has been put into the Catch 22 situation. However, the party has lost three of its seats with a margin of about a thousand votes. If the party would have managed these seats, the BJP would have comfortably been forming the government in the capital, with its number reaching the magical 36.

Three AAP candidates have lost the election by a margin of less than 2,000 votes: Shazia Ilmi who contested from RK Puram lost by a very thin margin of 326 votes, followed by Sandeep Kumar with 1,112 votes and Vijender Garg by a margin of 1,796 votes.

Had these three candidates won their seats, the AAP would have come at par with the BJPs 31.

The BJP along with one SAD seat has reached to 32.

Even if the AAP had managed to secure the number with one JD (U) candidate coming out and openly supporting AAP,  its number will be like that of the BJP.

The one independent candidate Rambir Shokeen who has won the seat is a former BJP leader and has unofficially conveyed to the BJP that he was ready to return to the party if party PM candidate  Narendra Modi calls him. However, the BJP is now busy in working on its mathematics with other before it calls upon Shokeen.

Three of the BJP candidates have lost by a margin of about a 1000 votes. The BJP has lost Madipur seat by 1103 votes, Sadar Bazar by 796 votes and Vikaspuri by 405 votes. Had the party managed these numbers it would have managed to form the government with a comfortable majority.

With no political party managing to make to the magical figure, one of the youngest assemblies in the country will continue to be a hung house.
