The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is of the view that no case under the anti-money laundering law could be made out against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.

A senior official of the ED is understood to conveyed this stand to the Revenue Department recently stating that there is no predicate offence that could be made out against the two Congress leaders, a requisite for filing an FIR under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Meanwhile, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who initiated the case through a private complaint in a local court, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a full-time chief for ED to investigate the issue thoroughly under the PMLA.

He said the ED has wrongfully arrived at the conclusion that no case under anti-money laundering laws is made out against the Congress leaders.
