The official theatrical trailer for Tom Hardy's Venom had internet react with all the thirst tweets. This is when we first got to see the alien symbiote that co-habits the body of journalist Eddie Brock played by Hardy.

The CGI glory of Venom has now reportedly surpassed the popularity of Wonder Woman and Doctor Strange when it comes to counting views of the trailer spread across various social media platform.

According to a report by The Wrap, Fizziolofy a social media analytics company charted the view count after looking into Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Tumblr, Sina Weibo, and YouTube. Venom garnered more than 64.3 million views in the first 24 hours of the release. The report said that latest trailer count was 124.7 million for the first week.

Venom is the first in the Spider-Man spin-off slate in works at Sony Pictures.  Inspired by the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the studio finally decided to build its own Spidey Universe (for the lack of better word or trendy name the studio may come up with). After Venom, the Silver Sable/Black Cat spin-off Silver & Black will be released next year. There is also an animated Spider-Man movie in the works that puts Miles Morales as the web crawler as oppose to Tom Holland's portrayal on the big screen.

Venom is set to release on October 5. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie also stars Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Woody Harrelson, Reid Scott, and Riz Ahmed. The rumour has it that Tom Holland as Spider-Man will make a cameo too.
