The Amboli police have arrested a woman agent of a Vasai-based tantrik for allegedly cheating the wife of Bollywood actor-director Dheeraj Kumar to the tune of Rs2.36 crore in the past ten years.

According to the police, the victim, Zuby Kocchar, who is the wife of film director Dheeraj Kumar, met tantrik Dhanshukh Laxmilal Jain alias Rahuleshwaranand around ten years ago. Jain, who is a resident of Vasai and also has an office there, introduced Kocchar to Heena alias Shivani Ahluwalia, 53.
“Heena worked as an agent for the tantrik and told the complainant that she handled all black magic-related problems. The victim visited the tantrik’s office where she was told that her family was under a spell and a puja was performed. The accused took money from the complainant in cash and cheques,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police (Zone IX).
“The accused also forced the victim to buy a car. However after few years, the victim realised that in spite of spending so much money there was no change or improvement in her life. She then stopped visiting the tantrik’s office” said a police officer. “Heena approached the victim and said that if she stopped visiting the tantrik, it would create something problems,” he added.
The victim got scared and started visiting the tantrik again. But by 2010 she realised that she was being conned. However Heena started threatening her, so the victim approached Amboli police and filed a complaint against Heena.
The police arrested Heena on charges of extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt and cheating. She was produced in court and remanded in police custody till July 27.
