India and England will lock horns in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) at Sophia Gardens Cardiff on Friday.

The Cardiff game is the second match of the ongoing three-match T20I series going on between India and England. The opening encounter that was played at Manchester was won comfortably by the Indian team by eight wickets.

Cardiff hosted its first T20I back in 2010 and so far only eight T20Is have been played there. While, this will be India’s first T20I at Sophia Gardens, the likes of England (4), Australia (1), South Africa (1) and Pakistan (2) have played the shortest format on the international level there.

Virat Kohli and Co, going into the second T20I on Friday, will be wary of the fact that England have never lost a T20I at Cardiff.

The highest total registered at Cardiff in a T20I so far has been 182 for 5 in 20 overs and understandably, it belonged to the hosts, England. It came in the one-off T20I played between England and Australia in 2015 post the Ashes and before the five-match One-Dat Internationals (ODIs).

In the only T20I, batting first, England posted 182 in 20 overs, courtesy of Moeen Ali’s 72 off 46 balls, a knock which was inclusive of six fours and three sixes and skipper Eoin Morgan bettered him with a score of 74 off 39 balls. Morgan smashed seven sixes and three fours.

In reply to England’s 182, Australia fell short of five runs.

Meanwhile, the lowest total recorded in Cardiff so far has been Pakistan’s 89. In 2010, batting first, Pakistan were bundled out for a poor total of 89 and for England, among wickets were Tim Bresnen (3 for 10), Ryan Sidebottom (2 for 22), Stuart Broad (2 for 18) and Graeme Swann (2 for 27).

Moreover, the head to head between India and England has been tied at 6-6 so the winner of Friday’s game will take the lead of 7-6.
