Namrata Shirodkar as Model
Namrata Shirodkar is the elder sister of actress Shilpa Shirodkar and the granddaughter of noted actress Meenakshi Shirodkar. She is a beauty queen who won the Miss India title in 1993. She also represented India in Miss Universe, however, failed to get the crown home.
Namrata Shirodkar's Bollywood journey
Namrata first appeared as a child artiste with Shatrughan Sinha in the 1977 film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. She made her debut alongside Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna in 1998 in the film Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai. After this, she starred in several Bollywood films like Vaastav and Kachche Dhaage, and her performance was much appreciated by the critics. She has also been featured in movies like LOC Kargil, Hero Hindustani, Maseeha, and Bride and Prejudice among others.
Namrata Shirodkar met Mahesh Babu
Namrata Shirodkar and Mahesh Babu met on the sets of their film Vamsi. While shooting for the film, the couple fell in love and soon started dating. They married on 10 February 2005 at the JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu during the shooting of Athadu. Mahesh Babu wanted a 'non-working' wife and therefore, Namrata quit films to marry him.
In an interview with a Telugu YouTube channel, Prema - the journalist, Namrata said, "Mahesh was very clear that he wanted a non-working wife. Even if I was working in some office, he would have told me to leave work. There are certain things we had for each other."
She added, "We were very clear that we would live in an apartment first after marriage because I was from Mumbai, and I didn't know how I would fit into these huge bungalows. I used to get scared so he moved into an apartment with me. That was my condition that if I'm going to come to Hyderabad, I will live in an apartment. Similarly, he was also clear that he didn't want me to work. This is why we also took some time so that I finish shooting for all my films. When we got married, I had no work, so I wrapped up all my pending movies. We were clear. There was a lot of clarity among us."
Namrata further stated that she doesn't regret leaving her career for her marriage, she said, "I got into acting which was the obvious next step, and by the time I really enjoyed my work and thought seriously about my craft, I met Mahesh and we got married. If I had taken my work seriously, my life would have been very different from what it is now..so I'm not complaining."
Namrata Shirodkar is now living a luxurious life with her husband Mahesh Babu in Hyderabad and In 2022, the couple ventured into a new business and started their own cafe in Hyderabad. The couple has two children, a son Gautham Ghattamaneni, and a daughter Sitara Ghattamaneni. She often shares her glamourous pics on Instagram and has a massive fan following of 4.1 million followers.
