A woman was arrested for the alleged murder of her husband, police said on Friday.

Besides the woman, her lover and his friend were also arrested  in connection with the killing of Venkatesh Rao, a motor parts salesman on July 12.

Suguna, 33, along with her lover K Venkatesh, 24, had hatched a plot to kill Rao. The couple was married for 11 years and differences in opinion had brought a rift in their relationship. Meanwhile, Suguna had become intimate with their KP Agrahara house neighbour, Venkatesh, since four years.

However, Rao came to know about the illicit affair, and pleaded with his wife to put an end to it. When Suguna did not heed to his pleas, Rao shifted base to Viratnagar in Bommanahalli on Hosur Road, three months ago.

Suguna and her paramour had then decided to put an end to Rao's life. According to the plan, the duo, with the help of Murali, a neighbour in KP Agrahara, kidnapped Rao while he was returning home from his shop in JC Road on July 12 around 8.10 pm.

They forced Rao into an autorickshaw and took him to an isolated spot near Gurulingaiah Layout near Jnanabharathi. They then stabbed him and smashed his head with a boulder, killing him instantly. The trio then dumped his body into a sewage drain.

Two days later, Suguna complained to the police that her husband had been missing.

Repeated interrogation of Suguna helped the police solve the case. She told the police that she suspected the involvement of Venkatesh, who while being questioned, broke down and confessed to the murder.
