In the first Deepavali-related death this year, a 10-year-old boy fell from the terrace of his three-storied building and died on the spot while he was bursting crackers with his friends in Mico Layout on Thursday night.
B Mohith, a fourth standard student of Sudarshan School in Tilak Nagar and resident of 9th Cross, Mico Layout, was on the terrace of his building just behind Mico Layout police station when the tragedy struck. Mohith was bursting crackers on the terrace with three friends when a big sound – reportedly a sharp cracker burst below – attracted his attention.
A curious Mohith ran to the parapet wall and leaned over to see what was happening. His three friends told the police that Mohith lost his foothold and slipped to his death. The Mico Layout police said the incident happened around 8 pm.
Mohith, son of a roadside eatery shop owner Bhaskar Rao, was rushed to a nearby private nursing home, but was declared ‘brought dead’. The Mico Layout police shifted Mohith’s body to Victoria Hospital for a postmortem. A case of unnatural death has been registered with the Mico Layout police.
