The post-graduate entrance test (PGET) scam case will be heard by the high court in a special sitting on Wednesday morning.

With a view to put an end to malpractices in the PGET held for medical courses and based on an interim report submitted by the Lokayukta, medical education minister SA Ramdas had ordered to nullify the results of 11 toppers. The toppers had challenged the state government’s move in the high court.

Justice BS Patil will conduct a special sitting only to hear this case and conclude it on the same day.

Vinod Karjgi, Haridattatreya Mantagni, Dhananjay and the other toppers had filed a petition in the high court. The petitioners have submitted that media reports have disclosed their ranking in the provisional list for the post-graduate courses in medicine which would be nullified due to alleged malpractices committed by them.

They have questioned the deletion of their names from the merit list without giving them a hearing. They called the move illegal and said at least a notice should have been given to them. Hence, the petitioners had sought permission to attend the counselling.

Justice BS Patel had directed the state government to submit the original documents of the Lokayukta report, the police report and the committee for the malpractices’ report pertaining to the alleged malpractices. These were submitted to the court as per its directions in the previous hearing.
