The Acharya Institute’s management has suspended two students from the hostel, where a Manipuri architecture student was found dead under mysterious circumstances on April 18.

The duo had on April 17 allegedly quarrelled with the deceased, Richard Loitam, a second semester student of the Acharya NRV School of Architecture at Soladevanahalli.

Acharya Institutes’ director (placements) Bhooshan CBM told DNA that they have suspended two students from the hostel and have informed the police about the same. He refused to divulge the names of the students.

Bhooshan said that the students have been suspended only from the hostel and not from the college.

He also added that the college special committee will decide on further action after the completion of investigation.

Sources in college said they had conducted a preliminary investigation to find out those involved in the quarrel and reasons behind it.

They also quizzed the Loitam’s roommates, who reportedly told them that Loitam did not tell them what exactly happened.

Loitam’s roommates on seeing him bleeding had asked for the cause and he reportedly told them that he had a quarrel with senior students. But, the next morning he was found dead.

Meanwhile, the Madanayakanahalli police, who had registered a suspicious death case, had directed the two suspended students to not to leave the city until the investigation were over. They also alerted college management in this regard.

The police are awaiting Forensic Science Laboratory report to ascertain the cause of Loitam’s death.
