‘Reddy’s men may create unrest’

Bellary district’s BJP leaders and supporters of Reddy called for a bandh and took out a protest march, shouting slogans and burning effigies of Congress leaders Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, after the arrest of former minister G Janardhana Reddy, on Monday.

The supporters took out a protest march, which started off at the BJP party office at Lal Bahadur Shastrinagar in SP Circle and passed through Durgamma temple.

Although most shops were open in the districts. In some sensitive areas, the shopkeepers downed their shutters, fearing the situation might get out of hand. A businessman on conditions of anonymity said that Reddy’s goons might cause harm to the public.

Police sources said that Reddy’s supporters were planning to create unrest in the district.
