Electoral authorities have completed all preparations for holding bye-elections in Gulbarga South and Kadur Assembly constituencies in Karnataka tomorrow.
 
About 3.87 lakh eligible electorate-- 2.10 lakh in Gulbarga South and 1.77 lakh in Kadur-- are expected to exercise their franchise.
 
Gulbarga South constituency has 11 aspirants and in Kadur, there are three.
 
The bypoll has become prestigious for the ruling BJP, which has the compulsion of retaining Gulbarga South constituency, held by Chandrasekhara Patil Revoor, whose death caused the election and wresting Kadur from Congress.
 
Chief minister BS Yeddyurappa himself campaigned vigorously in Gulbarga South constituency, which is being contested by Sushil Namoshi, MLC.
 
Opposition Congress has fielded Dr Ajay Singh, son of former chief minister N Dharam Singh, a powerful leader of the region and JDS has managed to rope in the wife of deceased Revoor, Aruna with a hope to notch up the seat.
 
Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has devoted his energy by camapigning in Gulbarga South constituency to lure voters, while Congress campaign was led by its leaders like Siddaramiah, KPCC president RV Deshpande and working president DK Shivakumar.
 
Union minister for labour and employment Mallikarjun Kharge, who represent Gulbarga parliamentary seat, has also campaigned across the constituency seeking support for Dharam's son.
 
In Kadur, a seat held by Krishnamurthy, whose demise caused the bypoll witness a triangular fight between BJP, CONG and JDS.
 
Former prime minister HD Devegowda has strained his nerve to ensure the victory of the party MLC YSV Datta, who lost in 2008 assembly election by a narrow margin and Congress has been pulling out all stops to retain the seat.
 
Counting of votes will take place on September 16.
