The city already saw moderate rainfall of about 10.2mm on Sunday evening.
According to B Puttanna, director, Indian Meteorological Department, Bangalore, conditions are favourable for the commencement of north-east monsoon in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and adjoining areas of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
“Over the past few days, there has been 1 degree Celsius or 2 degree Celsius increase in the temperature, basically due to the lack of clouds. But it has not gone beyond 2 degree Celsius,” said Puttanna.
“The temperature is set to come down with the arrival of the north-east monsoon in the state. Coastal regions of Karnataka, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bangalore and other districts along the eastern side of the state will get rain in the next few days,” Puttanna added.
The director also added that the state can expect more than the normal quota of rain in the next few days.
“We are expecting an average of 3cm-4 cm of rain during the post-monsoon season, which is slightly higher than the normal quota that we receive,” Puttanna said.
According to the forecast, rain and thunderstorms are likely over the next few days in a few places in coastal Karnataka and south-interior Karnataka and isolated showers in the north-interior parts of Karnataka.
Light to moderate thundershowers are also expected in all districts in these areas.
The maximum and minimum temperature in the city for the next two days is likely to be around 29 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius. One or two spells on rainfall or thundershowers are also expected in a few places, under a generally cloudy sky.
