How did Bangalore react to Tuesday’s auto strike? Even though the strike was partial, with 32K of 80K vehicles plying, citizens were tweeting woe and wit. Here’s a slice of the city’s three-wheeler angst.

ki_run: Auto strike in Bangalore today .. says who?
trentolocist: Worthless Bangalore auto drivers. Can’t even strike!!
sharmapraveen:What is wrong with bangalore auto wala’s !! Strike again. I hate this!!

sid: Auto strike in Bangalore! Finally, less mess on the roads!

Echoing trentolocist’s tweet, auto-driver Ranagaswamy K explained: “I am bound to support the strike as auto-drivers have threatened and warned us”.

Driver Narasimha Murthy was more specific: “I am supporting the strike because we have been asking the government to provide us subsidy to install digital meters.”

But, on the ground, commuters were compelled to be generous. Complained Raghavendra Shetty: “They asked Rs120 from Frazer Town to Banaswadi, which is double the normal fare.” Frets Lathika Murthy: “I spent 10 minutes with an auto driver, arguing.

He was asking me to shell out Rs100 when the fare was Rs27.”
Thus ended another day in the life of the commuter. Partial or total, the strike hurt. Only tweets made the inconvenience lighter.
