Karnataka government would accord top priority to rural development and devolution of power at the grass-root level, chief minister BS Yeddyurappa said here.
Inaugurating the 30th conference of Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) today, he said his government, which had completed two years in office, would give more thrust towards empowerment of rural people.
Expressing concern over growing corruption in the society, Yeddyurappa emphasised the need to launch a campaign against the menace. "Media can play a vital role in the fight against corruption", he said.
Appealing to media to highlight issues which are in the interests of common man, Yeddyurappa said truth should be the focal point of the Fourth Estate in discharging its duties.
He also assured to release grants for the construction of building for KUWJ and said he would direct the Mayor to allot land for the purpose.
