The mayoral team inspected Mysore Road and Gali Anjaneya Temple Road to see the speed of the works at these major points.
While the widening of Mysore Road has been in charts for over six months, desilting work in Vrushabhavathi canal is moving at a snail’s pace.

The inspection team found the road after Sirsi flyover on Chamrajpet 1st Main broken and full of potholes. They were concerned over this as utilities like electrical wires under the ground and water pipes should be shifted before the road-widening work begins.

After taking a round, mayor Sharadamma questioned water board and Bescom engineers for the delay in their respective works.

BWSSB engineers assured her that the utilities would be shifted by the end of this month. “We will complete shifting 300 metres of pipes by September 30 and hand it over to the BBMP,” said engineer T Venkataraju.

After inspecting desilting work under way in Vrushabhavathi canal along with her deputy S Harish, Shara-damma told water board officials to finish it by month-end. The delay has hit bridge work over the canal from Mysore Road-end.

The mayor also inspected the storm water drain which joins the canal from either side and asked the engineers to create another vent to reduce the speed of the water flow and pressure on the pipe.

During the last leg of their inspections, deputy mayor Harish visited the Iskcon temple and West of Chord Road. There he was shocked to find sewage from a drain overflowing to the temple’s entrance. He directed BWSSB officials to take steps so that devotees do not face any problems.

He also found the footpath broken. This forced pedestrians to walk on the narrow road where metro work is going on.
