A 20-year-old engineering student allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room on Friday afternoon.

According to police, Jithendra’s friends found him hanging in his hostel room about 1pm when they came during the lunch hour. The friends knocked the door but when Jithendra did not open the door for a long time, they looked through a window and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.
They informed the hostel warden immediately, who later informed the police.
Jithendra was poor in studies and had failed in a couple of subjects in the first-year examinations.
He attended the college on Friday morning but after some time, he left without attending the classes.
Jithendra is a native of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. His body has been shifted to Victoria hospital.

Woman commits suicide
A 25-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide in her house in Ganganagar on Friday morning. The deceased, Savita, reportedly took the step because of tribulations in her love life.
Police said Savita was in love with a colleague, H Sandeepa, and their families had agreed to their marriage. However, Sandeepa had allegedly been avoiding Savita for the past couple of months.
Allegedly, he was demanding dowry from her family. Initially, he sought Rs3 lakh and when her family agreed to that, he demanded a car too.
Even after they agreed to all his demands, he and Savita were not on good terms. The police said Savita was depressed over all this and maybe that is why she committed suicide.
Savita was staying with her mother and other relatives; her father had passed away a couple of years ago. The body was handed over to her family after postmortem.
20-year-old hangs herself to death
A 20-year-old woman working at a garments factory reportedly committed suicide in her house in Shivanandanagar on Thursday evening.
The deceased, K Ranjita, was found hanging from the ceiling about 7.30pm, when her mother returned to the house. Her mother left the home about 6.30pm.
When she returned an hour later and there was no response to knocks on the door, she and her neighbours broke open the door and found Ranjita’s body hanging.
The police said the reason behind her suicide was not known, adding that they suspect she ended her life over a love affair.
