The much awaited memorial of Vishnuvardhan will be designed like Sri Chakra which is formed by nine interlocking triangles. The state government finalised the design of the memorial on Friday.

The memorial will be laid during Dasara and chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has directed that it be ready in one year.

The edifice will be built at a cost of Rs10 crore, said Yeddyurappa. The memorial will have a park, fountain and meditation centre. The memorial will be spread over two acres of land at Abhiman Studio, in the outskirts of the city.

After holding a meeting with the officials and family members of Visnhuvardhan, Yeddyurappa said, “The tentative date for the laying down of the foundation stone is October 8. We will construct the memorial as per the expectations of Vishnu’s family.

The late thespian had a strong spiritual inclination. The Sri Chakra, a symbol of positive energy, was a favourite with Vishnuvardhan. The family of the Kannada movie idol has finalised the design.

“A rough sketch of the memorial was prepared by a government architect. Our own architect was briefed about Vishnu’s  interest in the Sri Chakra. It was fine-tuned in consultation with Bharati Vishnuvardhan. We are happy with the selection of the design,” said Anirudh Jatkar, son-in-law of Vishnuvardhan.
Bharati Vishnuvardhan, wife of Vishnu, expressed happiness over the state government’s cooperation.
