Curious case of a gunshot in Bangalore

A stray bullet hit a vendor’s arm and was lodged in his shoulder. But guess what, he didn’t know what had hit him. Twenty-three-year-old Gurunath, a resident of Hakki Pikki Colony, Anekal, and a plasticware vendor, was injured on Friday at 10 am.

He was shocked when Victoria Hospital doctors removed the bullet from his left arm on Saturday morning.Gurunath said he was selling his ware on 14th A Cross in Kanakanagar, Hebbal, on Friday morning.

Just then, he heard a gunshot and found his left shoulder bleeding. He was rushed to the nearby Bapstist Hospital. The doctors told him that a metal object was lodged in the arm and it could be removed after an operation. They asked him to arrange for ¤15,000 for the surgery.

Since he did not have the money to pay for the operation, he was rushed to Victoria Hospital.On Saturday morning, his left shoulder was operated upon. Surgeons removed the bullet and informed the police. Gurunath was shocked out of his wits seeing the ‘metal piece’ that had the potential to kill him.

Soon, the Hebbal police arrived at the hospital. Gurunath’s friend Rahul, who is also a vendor, said he was on the same road when the incident occurred. He saw his friend lying on the road and took Gurunath to Baptsist Hospital.

Gurunath’s wife Bhanushree, who came to know about the incident, rushed to the hospital on Friday night.
The police have seized the bullet and recorded his statement.
