Chain-snatchers in Mysore will have to think twice before deciding to pull off another job after what happened on Monday: two high-school students chased a motorcycle-borne snatcher on their two-wheeler and got him arrested.

In fact, like popular motorcycle game Road Rash, the boys kicked the chain-snatcher’s vehicle so hard that he lost the control and fell down and ended up biting the dust. Police said the miscreant had snatched the gold chain, worth Rs65,000, of one Yashoda at 1pm at Twin Park in KC Layout. A resident Sandhya saw this and immediately asked her 15-year-old son Sushanth to chase the culprit.

The boy took out his father’s scooter and, along with a friend, got down to giving the miscreant a chase. The two chased the chain snatcher half-way around the city, calling attention of the people towards him at the same time. After they brought him down, people caught him and handed him over to the police.

The police have identified the miscreant as Srinivas Prasad, a resident of Alanahalli on the outskirts of Msyore. Nazarbad police inspector G Mohan praised the boys for their courage but added a word of caution: always inform the police before going behind any such miscreant as they could be dangerous.
